As of 2022, there are over 345,000 Filipino mariners deployed across the globe (Philippine Star, 2023). The Philippines remains the world’s largest supplier of maritime labor, generating over PHP 341 billion in remittances in the same year—making seafarers an invaluable pillar of the national economy and a vital contributor to the country’s GDP.
